In spite of the excitement for a revived fixture of music on Woodward Avenue, the dark financial skies of 2008 left Orchestra Hall’s future in doubt. Musical director Leonard Slatkin was the perfect fit, however, and his hallmark innovation, desire to explore new avenues for music and passion for engaging the community helped the DSO weather the storm and cement Orchestra Hall’s place in Detroit.
